Description

This Sweet Chili Salmon recipe offers a quick and flavorful way to enjoy tender salmon filets glazed with a vibrant Thai sweet chili sauce. Perfectly pan-seared to lock in moisture and topped with a tangy, sweet-spicy sauce, this dish is ideal for a healthy weeknight dinner served alongside steamed rice.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 2 Salmon Filets (skin on, seasoned with salt and pepper on both sides)
  • 1 tablespoon Oil

Sauce

  • ⅓ cup Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan and Salmon: Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Season the salmon filets generously with salt and pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
  2. Cook the Salmon Skin Side Up: Place the salmon in the skillet with the skin side facing up. Cook for approximately 4 minutes, adjusting the heat lower if you notice fat pockets forming to prevent burning and to ensure even cooking.
  3. Flip and Finish Cooking: Flip the salmon to cook skin side down for another 3 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C), indicating it is safely cooked through while retaining moistness.
  4. Add Sweet Chili Sauce: During the last minute of cooking, pour the ⅓ cup of Thai sweet chili sauce over each filet. Let the sauce simmer and slightly thicken as it coats the salmon, enhancing its flavor.
  5. Serve Immediately: Remove the salmon from the skillet and serve immediately, ideally paired with steamed rice to soak up the delicious sauce.

Notes

  • Use skin-on salmon filets to help protect the fish during cooking and add crisp texture.
  • Adjust cooking times according to the thickness of your salmon filets to avoid under- or overcooking.
  • For extra flavor, garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds before serving.
  • If you prefer, substitute Thai sweet chili sauce with a homemade blend of chili flakes, honey, and rice vinegar.
  • Ensure the internal temperature reaches 145°F for safe consumption while maintaining tenderness.
