Ingredients
Cookies
- 20 – 28 Oreo cookies, divided
Wet Ingredients
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 8 oz. cool whip, thawed
- ¼ – ½ cup (57 – 113 g) butter, melted
Dry Ingredients
- 15.25 oz. chocolate fudge cake mix
Dairy
- ½ cup (113 g) cold butter, evenly sliced
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Lightly grease an 11 x 7 inch or 9 x 13 inch baking dish using a tablespoon of butter to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving.
- Layer Cookies: Evenly spread 18 to 22 chocolate Oreo cookies across the bottom of the greased pan. The exact number will depend on your pan size, creating a solid cookie base for the dump cake.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the entire 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the Oreo cookie layer to add a rich, creamy sweetness that will caramelize during baking.
- Spread Cool Whip: Carefully spread the thawed 8 oz cool whip over the sweetened condensed milk and cookie mixture, creating a light and fluffy middle layer.
- Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the 15.25 oz chocolate fudge cake mix evenly over the cool whip layer, covering the entire surface.
- Top with Butter: Arrange the cold butter slices evenly over the cake mix to cover as much as possible. Then drizzle the melted butter in between the slices, adding moisture and richness to the cake.
- Garnish: Sprinkle 4 to 6 crushed Oreo cookies over the top to add a crunchy texture and extra chocolate flavor.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the sweetened condensed milk bubbles around the edges and begins to lightly caramelize.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool for 5 minutes before scooping. Serve warm, optionally topped with ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert experience.
Notes
- You can use either an 11 x 7-inch or 9 x 13-inch baking dish; the number of Oreos may vary slightly depending on the size.
- Make sure the cool whip is thawed to ensure easy spreading over the condensed milk layer.
- For an extra decadent touch, serve warm with your favorite ice cream or whipped cream.
- This cake can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.
- Feel free to experiment by adding nuts or chocolate chips for additional texture and flavor.
