Description

Creamy Ranch Chicken is a flavorful and comforting dish featuring tender seared chicken cutlets smothered in a rich and smooth ranch-infused cream sauce. Ready in just 25 minutes, this recipe uses simple ingredients like garlic, herbs, and sour cream to create a delicious home-cooked meal perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 large Boneless Chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mixed herb
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Sauce

  • 1.5 tablespoon Butter (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon Minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Flour
  • 1 cup Stock (chicken or vegetable)
  • 1/4 cup Sour Cream
  • 1.5 tablespoon Ranch Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken cutlets: Cut each chicken breast horizontally into 2 thinner cutlets to ensure even cooking and faster searing.
  2. Season the chicken: In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, mixed herb, salt, and pepper. Season both sides of each chicken cutlet evenly with this spice mix.
  3. Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil and 1.5 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, sear the chicken cutlets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove and cover chicken: Take the chicken out of the pan and keep covered to retain warmth and juices while preparing the sauce.
  5. Sauté garlic: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon butter and heat over medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Make the roux: Stir in the flour and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly to form a light roux that will thicken the sauce.
  7. Add stock and whisk: Slowly pour in the chicken stock while whisking continuously to avoid lumps and create a smooth sauce base.
  8. Finish the sauce: Reduce heat to low, add sour cream and ranch seasoning, whisk well until fully combined, then turn off the heat.
  9. Combine chicken and sauce: Return the cooked chicken cutlets to the pan and spoon the creamy ranch sauce over them. Let them warm in the sauce briefly before serving.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium stock to control salt levels.
  • For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
  • Ensure the pan is hot before searing chicken to get a nice golden crust.
  • Keep the chicken covered after cooking to keep it moist.
  • Adjust ranch seasoning amount to taste if you prefer a less intense ranch flavor.
