Ingredients
Salmon
- 1 pound fresh salmon, cut into 4 equal pieces
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, divided
Glaze Sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons chicken broth or water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: Take the salmon out of the fridge 15-20 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature. Cut the salmon into 4 equal pieces and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Season each piece generously with salt and pepper.
- Mix the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, lemon juice, grated fresh ginger, Worcestershire sauce, chicken broth (or water), and cornstarch until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of the butter. Allow the butter to melt and the pan to heat for a few minutes until hot.
- Cook the Salmon: Place the salmon pieces skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes without moving them to achieve a crispy skin. Then reduce the heat to medium, flip the salmon, and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the fish is nearly cooked through.
- Add the Glaze: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and let it melt. Pour the prepared glaze sauce into the skillet, distributing it between the salmon pieces. Allow it to bubble and thicken for 20 to 30 seconds. Remove the skillet from heat to prevent burning—the residual heat will continue thickening the glaze. Flip the salmon pieces once more and spoon the glaze over the top to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the glazed salmon immediately. The salmon skin will be delightfully crispy if eaten right away, but you may peel it off if preferred.

- Pat salmon dry before seasoning to help the skin crisp up nicely.
- Use fresh ginger for a brighter flavor in the glaze.
