Description

Yogurt Melts are a delightful, cool snack perfect for babies, made by blending Greek yogurt with fresh or tinned fruit, then freezing into small, easy-to-eat melts. They offer a refreshing and healthy way to introduce natural fruit flavors and creamy texture to young children.

Ingredients

Base Yogurt

  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¾ cup Greek yogurt

Fruit Puree

  • ¼ pear (about 30g), peeled; fresh soft pear or tinned pear
  • ¼ cup raspberries (25g)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit Puree: Place the first ¼ cup of Greek yogurt together with the peeled pear and raspberries into a blender. Blitz the mixture until it forms a smooth, lump-free puree suitable for babies.
  2. Mix the Yogurt: Gently stir the smooth fruit puree into the remaining ¾ cup of Greek yogurt. This will create a creamy, flavored yogurt mixture.
  3. Pipe the Yoghurt Melts: Spoon the flavored yogurt into a piping bag or any small plastic bag with a corner cut off to control dispensing.
  4. Create the Melts: Pipe small blobs or buttons of the flavored yogurt onto a baking tray or flat plate lined with baking paper or a non-stick reusable liner, making sure the tray fits into your freezer.
  5. Freeze: Place the tray in the freezer and allow the yogurt melts to freeze solid, which should take about an hour.
  6. Store the Melts: Once frozen solid, transfer the yogurt melts into an airtight container and keep them stored in the freezer until needed as a cool, refreshing snack for your little one.

Notes

  • You can substitute the pear with any soft fruit or vegetable suitable for blending, like banana or cooked carrot.
  • Use fresh fruit if possible for maximum nutritional benefit, but tinned fruit without added sugar is also fine.
  • Ensure all equipment and containers are clean and safe for baby food preparation.
  • Serve frozen melts as a refreshing teething snack, but always supervise your baby while eating.
  • Adjust portion sizes and ingredients based on your child’s allergy and dietary considerations.
