Ingredients
Turmeric Latte Mix
- 3 tablespoons ground turmeric
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
To Prepare Latte
- 1 teaspoon turmeric latte mix
- 1 1/2 cups milk (any variety), steamed
- Sweetener of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the Spices: In a small bowl, combine ground turmeric, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, and ground black pepper thoroughly to create the turmeric latte mix.
- Store the Mix: Transfer the spice blend into a small jar with a lid for storage. Using a funnel can help prevent spills during transfer.
- Prepare the Latte with Steamed Milk: Scoop 1 teaspoon of the turmeric latte mix into a mug. Steam 1 1/2 cups of milk using an espresso machine steam wand or an electric milk frother. Add a small amount of the steamed milk into the turmeric mix, whisk to combine evenly, then pour in the remaining steamed milk. Stir well and add sweetener if desired.
- Alternative Preparation on Stovetop: Place 1 teaspoon of turmeric latte mix into a saucepan. Add a splash of milk and whisk until smooth. Gradually whisk in the remaining milk and gently warm the mixture over medium-high heat until it starts to steam but does not boil. Pour into a mug and add sweetener if preferred.
Notes
- The black pepper in the mix helps enhance the absorption of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric.
- You can use any type of milk such as dairy, almond, oat, or soy depending on your preference.
- Adjust the sweetener quantity to taste or omit it entirely for a more natural flavor.
- Store the turmeric latte mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
- Stir well before each use, as spices may settle over time.
