Ingredients
Crust
- 1/2 cup Butter, Softened
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Topping
- 1/4 cup Toffee Bits
- 3/4 cup Toffee Bits (for topping)
- 1/3 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 tbsp Butter, Melted
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray an 8×8 inch baking dish with non-stick spray to prevent sticking and set aside.
- Make the Crust: Beat together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar until smooth and creamy. Gradually add 1 1/4 cups flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt, mixing until just combined. The mixture will be crumbly but should hold together when pressed between your fingers.
- Bake the Crust: Press the crumbly dough evenly into the prepared baking dish, forming the base layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Add Toffee Bits: Remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle 1/4 cup toffee bits evenly over the warm crust.
- Prepare and Pour Topping: Combine 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk with 1 tablespoon melted butter, stirring to mix well. Pour this mixture evenly over the toffee bits on the crust.
- Bake the Topping: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 7 to 10 minutes, or until the topping mixture is bubbly and set.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Remove the pan from the oven. Immediately sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips evenly over the hot topping. Let the chocolate chips soften for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Spread Chocolate and Add Final Toffee: Gently spread the softened chocolate chips into an even layer using a spatula or the back of a spoon. While still warm, sprinkle the remaining 3/4 cup toffee bits evenly over the chocolate layer.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan so the layers set, then cut into squares and enjoy your delicious toffee bars.
