Description
This Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme copycat recipe recreates the iconic fast-food favorite at home with seasoned ground beef, crunchy tostada shells, creamy nacho cheese, fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, and tangy sour cream, all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla and pan-fried to a golden crisp.
Ingredients
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 ounce taco seasoning (1 packet)
- ½ cup water
Assembly Ingredients
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 4 tostada shells
- 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small tomato, diced
Instructions
- Cook the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Season the beef: Add the taco seasoning packet and ½ cup water to the cooked beef. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes until the flavors meld and the liquid slightly reduces.
- Start assembling: Lay one large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread about a quarter cup of nacho cheese sauce in the center of the tortilla.
- Add meat and tostada: Spoon an even portion of the seasoned ground beef on top of the cheese sauce. Then place one tostada shell directly over the ground beef to add crunch.
- Layer toppings: Spread about two tablespoons of sour cream over the tostada, then top with shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced tomatoes evenly.
- Fold the crunchwrap: Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla up and over the filling sides, pleating as needed to form a hexagon-shaped wrap, completely enclosing the filling.
- Cook the crunchwrap: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place the crunchwrap seam-side down on the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the tortilla is golden brown and sealed. Flip carefully and cook the other side for an additional 2 minutes.
- Serve warm: Remove from the skillet and serve immediately. Repeat the assembly and cooking process with remaining ingredients.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, press the crunchwrap gently with a spatula while cooking.
- Use a non-stick skillet or add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
- Customize fillings by adding jalapeños, guacamole, or black beans as desired.
- Ensure the tortilla is large enough to fold completely to prevent filling from spilling out.
- Serve with salsa or hot sauce for added flavor.
