Description

Strawberry Simple Syrup is a sweet, fruity syrup made from fresh strawberries, sugar, and water. It’s perfect for adding flavor to drinks, desserts, and even salads, and can be stored in the fridge for easy use.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces (1 ¾ cups) whole strawberries, washed, hulled, and diced
  • 1 cup (250 g) water
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the diced strawberries, water, and granulated sugar.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently for about 20 minutes. Avoid crushing the strawberries to keep the syrup clear.
  4. Occasionally skim off any foam that forms on the surface during simmering.
  5. After 20 minutes, remove the pan from heat and let the syrup cool slightly.
  6. Place a fine mesh strainer over an airtight container or jar and pour the mixture through it to separate the liquid from the solids. Discard the strawberry solids.
  7. Let the strained syrup cool to room temperature.
  8. Cover and refrigerate until cold. Store for up to 2–3 weeks in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Do not mash the strawberries while simmering to maintain a clearer syrup.
  • Use a fine mesh strainer for best results when straining the syrup.
  • Try this syrup in cocktails, lemonades, iced teas, over pancakes, or as a dessert drizzle.
  • Double the recipe for larger batches—great for parties or gifting!
