Description

Spicy Shrimp Scampi is a fiery twist on the classic Italian-American dish, featuring tender shrimp in a garlic-lemon butter sauce with crushed red pepper and fresh parsley. Quick, light, and perfect for seafood lovers who enjoy a little heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) box dried linguine
  • 1/4 cup butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped, plus more for garnish
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining. Set aside.
  2. In a large sauté pan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter with the olive oil.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp to the pan, season with salt and pepper, and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Add crushed red pepper flakes and stir. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until shrimp are cooked through and flavors meld.
  6. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  7. Add remaining 1 tablespoon butter, lemon juice, chopped parsley, and reserved pasta water to the pan. Stir and cook for 2–3 minutes, adjusting seasoning as needed.
  8. Remove from heat and toss cooked linguine in the pan to coat with sauce.
  9. Plate the pasta and top with shrimp. Garnish with additional parsley and optional Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Reserve some pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency as needed.
  • For more heat, add extra crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
  • Parmesan cheese is optional but adds a savory finish.
