Description

Soft Baked Maple Donut Bars are cinnamon-spiced, maple-sweetened cake bars baked in a pan and topped with a silky glaze—like a donut in bar form. These moist, tender bars are easy to make and perfect for sharing.


Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 large eggs (room temperature)

½ cup pure maple syrup

½ cup milk (whole or non-dairy)

¼ cup melted butter (cooled)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Grease and line an 8×8‑inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, maple syrup, milk, and cooled melted butter until smooth.
  4. Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top evenly.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool bars in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make glaze. Drizzle over cooled bars.
  9. Let glaze set, then slice into bars and serve.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract to the glaze for extra flavor.
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts can be added to the batter or sprinkled on top.
  • For a chai twist, mix in nutmeg, cardamom, or ginger with the cinnamon.
