Description
Soft Baked Maple Donut Bars are cinnamon-spiced, maple-sweetened cake bars baked in a pan and topped with a silky glaze—like a donut in bar form. These moist, tender bars are easy to make and perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large eggs (room temperature)
½ cup pure maple syrup
½ cup milk (whole or non-dairy)
¼ cup melted butter (cooled)
1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Grease and line an 8×8‑inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, maple syrup, milk, and cooled melted butter until smooth.
- Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined—do not overmix.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool bars in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make glaze. Drizzle over cooled bars.
- Let glaze set, then slice into bars and serve.
Notes
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract to the glaze for extra flavor.
- Chopped pecans or walnuts can be added to the batter or sprinkled on top.
- For a chai twist, mix in nutmeg, cardamom, or ginger with the cinnamon.
- Freeze unglazed bars and add glaze after thawing for best texture.
