Description

This Pickle Pizza recipe features a crispy thin-crust pizza topped with a creamy garlic sauce, tangy dill pickles, and melted mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Ready in just 30 minutes, it offers a unique and flavorful twist on traditional pizza with a refreshing pickle crunch that pairs perfectly with the savory garlic cheese blend.

Ingredients

Garlic Sauce

  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 teaspoons water
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Pizza

  • 1 package (13 ounces) thin-crust pizza dough, or homemade pizza dough
  • 2-3 dill pickles, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking the pizza to a golden, crispy crust.
  2. Make Garlic Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the peeled and smashed garlic clove, sour cream, mayonnaise, 1 to 2 teaspoons water, kosher salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Stir until the sauce is creamy and smooth with well-blended flavors.
  3. Prepare Dough: Roll out the thin-crust pizza dough into a 12-inch circle on a clean work surface. For easy handling and cleanup, place the rolled dough on a parchment-lined pizza stone or baking sheet.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Evenly spread the prepared garlic sauce over the surface of the dough. Layer the thinly sliced dill pickles on top of the sauce. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pickles, and finish with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
  5. Bake Pizza: Place the assembled pizza into the preheated oven and bake for 16-20 minutes. Bake until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly, and the crust turns golden brown and crispy.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to sit for about 3 minutes before slicing. This resting time helps the toppings set and makes slicing easier. Serve warm and enjoy the unique pickle pizza experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh dill pickles for the best tangy flavor and crunch.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add more water to the garlic sauce gradually.
  • For an extra crispy crust, bake pizza on a preheated pizza stone.
  • Letting the pizza rest before cutting helps maintain clean slices and prevents topping slipping.
  • This recipe can be customized with other cheeses or additional toppings if desired.
