Description

These Oven Grilled Tandoori Chicken Skewers are a delicious and healthy Indian-inspired main dish. Marinated in yogurt, lemon juice, and aromatic spices, the chicken is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly charred under the broiler. Great for weeknight dinners or entertaining!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb skinless, boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger
  • 2 teaspoons grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, paprika, cumin, coriander, salt, and turmeric.
  3. Add chicken pieces to the marinade and mix until evenly coated. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best flavor.
  4. Thread marinated chicken onto metal skewers (or soaked wooden skewers).
  5. Place skewers on the prepared wire rack and bake for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.
  6. Broil for the final 3–5 minutes to achieve a slight char on the edges.
  7. Remove from oven, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with naan, rice, or a fresh cucumber salad for a complete meal.
  • You can use chicken breast if preferred, but thighs stay juicier.
  • Adjust the chili powder to your heat preference.
