Description
Thin onion rings transformed into crispy, cheesy chips—baked until golden and seasoned perfectly for snacking or dipping.
Ingredients
1 onion, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
1 cup Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, grated
A light drizzle of olive oil
Greek seasoning, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the onion into ¼-inch thick rounds using a knife or mandoline.
- On the parchment-lined sheet, create an even layer of grated Parmigiano Reggiano. Carefully place the onion rings on top, arranging them close together for even baking.
- Drizzle each ring lightly with olive oil and season with Greek seasoning to taste.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese turns golden and the onion edges crisp.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheet for about 10 minutes to firm up.
- Serve with your favorite dips such as sour cream, cilantro-lime crema, French onion dip, or tzatziki.
Notes
- Use parchment to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Choose onions of uniform thickness for even baking.
- Serve immediately for best crispness—cheese crisps soften over time.
- Experiment with cheese and seasoning combos for variation.
