Ingredients
Salmon
- 2 pounds salmon, sliced into four filets
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Marinade & Glaze
- 1/4 cup miso paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Garnish
- Chopped green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Season: Lightly season the salmon filets on both sides with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
- Whisk the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the miso paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until smooth and well-blended. Reserve one tablespoon of this marinade for later use as a glaze.
- Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon filets in a medium-sized bowl or container and pour the marinade over them. Toss gently to coat evenly. Allow the salmon to marinate for 1 to 3 hours in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.
- Preheat Oven and Prepare to Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the salmon to a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish, discarding the excess marinade. Place the skillet in the oven and bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is almost opaque and cooked through.
- Broil with Glaze: Remove the salmon from the oven and brush the reserved marinade over the top. Set your oven to the broil setting on high and broil the salmon for 1 to 2 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning; the salmon should reach an internal temperature between 125°F and 130°F for perfectly cooked, medium-rare texture.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately for a delicious and visually appealing meal.
Notes
- You can marinate the salmon up to 3 hours for deeper flavor but avoid longer to maintain texture.
- Adjust broiling time depending on your oven to prevent overcooking the salmon.
- Use a digital thermometer to check for doneness and ensure salmon remains moist.
- This recipe pairs well with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
