Description
This Lemon Dill Salmon Pasta is a quick and delicious weeknight meal combining tender salmon cooked in a creamy lemon dill sauce with perfectly al dente pasta. The light citrus flavor and fresh dill elevate the richness of the cream, creating a delightful balance that’s easy to make in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 4 ounces uncooked pasta
- 1/2 pound fresh salmon
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
- Flour (for dredging)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
Optional Garnish
- Fresh parsley
- Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Boil a pot of salted water and cook the pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Starting the sauce while the water is boiling will help save time.
- Prepare Salmon: Season the salmon with salt and pepper, then dredge it lightly in flour to ensure a nice sear.
- Sear Salmon: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon and cook for 2 minutes on each side until lightly golden. Remove salmon from pan and set aside.
- Create Sauce Base: To the same skillet, add the chicken broth, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Let the mixture bubble for about 30 seconds to deglaze and infuse flavor, then reduce heat to medium.
- Add Cream and Dill: Stir in the heavy cream and chopped fresh dill. Return the salmon to the pan, breaking it into bite-size pieces with a spoon. Simmer for a few minutes until the salmon is cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Drain the cooked pasta and add it directly into the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together well to coat the pasta evenly.
- Serve: Plate the pasta immediately and garnish with fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired for added freshness and flavor.
Notes
- Use fresh salmon fillets for best flavor and texture.
- Do not overcook the salmon in the skillet; it will finish cooking in the sauce.
- The dish pairs well with a light green salad or steamed vegetables.
- Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it may be less rich and creamy.
- Gluten-free pasta can be used to accommodate dietary restrictions.
