Description

Lavender Lemonade is a refreshing twist on classic lemonade, combining the bright tang of lemon juice with the calming, floral notes of lavender. This elegant and fragrant beverage is perfect for a hot summer day or any gathering.

Ingredients

1 small handful freshly picked and rinsed lavender flowers, or 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers

1 cup sugar

2 cups boiling water

1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 cups cold water, plus more as needed

Ice

Thinly sliced lemons and a few lavender sprigs, for optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the lavender flowers from the stems and place them in a medium bowl. Avoid using a Pyrex bowl as it can crack when exposed to boiling water.
  2. Pour 1 cup of sugar over the lavender flowers. Gently rub the flowers into the sugar to release the lavender oils.
  3. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the lavender sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves. Cover and let it infuse for 30 minutes. For a stronger lavender flavor, steep longer.
  4. Strain the lavender-infused simple syrup into a serving carafe or pitcher, removing the lavender flowers.
  5. Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice, then add 2 cups of cold water. Adjust the tartness by adding more lemon juice if it’s too sweet, or more sugar if it’s too tart.
  6. Add ice to the pitcher and garnish with thinly sliced lemons and a few sprigs of lavender for an elegant touch.
  7. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a sweeter lemonade, you can add more sugar or honey. Stevia or agave can also be used as natural sweeteners.
  • To intensify the lavender flavor, steep the syrup for a longer period or add more lavender flowers.
  • For a more complex flavor, add fresh mint or a splash of elderflower syrup.
  • For a frozen version, blend the lemonade with ice to make a slushy drink.
