Description

This homemade coffee creamer is a rich, subtly sweet blend of whole milk, dark brown sugar, and vanilla. A wholesome and customizable alternative to store-bought options, it adds smooth, creamy flavor to your morning cup.

Ingredients

4 cups whole milk, divided (or any milk of your choice)

½ cup dark brown sugar (or sweetener of your choice)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of milk with the brown sugar over low heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Simmer the mixture without stirring for 30–35 minutes, until reduced to about 1½ cups and lightly golden.
  3. Skim off any foam and discard. Remove from heat and let cool to warm.
  4. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Transfer to a quart-sized lidded container and refrigerate. Shake before each use.

Notes

  • Use plant-based milks like almond or oat for a vegan version.
  • Customize with flavored extracts or spices like cinnamon or nutmeg.
  • Simmering only half the milk creates a rich, sweet syrup while preserving freshness with the remaining milk.
