Description

Enjoy a cozy cup of Healthy Vegan Hot Chocolate made with natural sweetness from soaked medjool dates, rich dark vegan chocolate, and aromatic cinnamon. This creamy and comforting beverage is perfect for a quick, wholesome treat that’s free from dairy and refined sugars.

Ingredients

Sweetener

  • 5 medjool dates (soaked in hot water for 5 minutes)

Liquids

  • 1 cup plant-based milk
  • 1 cup date seed coffee (or regular coffee or additional plant-based milk)

Chocolate & Flavorings

  • ¼ cup dark chocolate (vegan, chopped)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 sprinkle cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Soak Dates: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and pour it over the medjool dates. Let them soak for 5 minutes to soften.
  2. Make Date Paste: Blend the soaked dates with the soaking water until a smooth paste is formed, ensuring no lumps remain for a creamy texture.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the date paste, date seed coffee, plant-based milk, chopped dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  4. Heat & Whisk: Whisk the mixture continuously until all ingredients are fully combined and heated through, allowing the chocolate to melt and the flavors to meld evenly.
  5. Serve: Pour into cups and enjoy immediately. Optionally, top with vegan marshmallows or vegan whipped cream for an indulgent twist.

Notes

  • Medjool dates provide natural sweetness; feel free to adjust the quantity for desired sweetness.
  • Use your favorite plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy for customization.
  • Date seed coffee can be substituted with regular coffee or more plant-based milk if unavailable.
  • For an extra rich version, add an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder or chocolate.
  • Store any leftovers in the refrigerator up to 2 days and reheat gently on the stovetop.
