Description

A quick and flavorful Ground Beef Cheesesteak recipe that combines savory seasoned ground beef with melted cheese, served perfectly on hoagie rolls for an easy and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1/2-1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80-85% lean)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons granulated garlic (or to taste)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley (or to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or American preferred)

Serving

  • 4 hoagie rolls (sub rolls or Amoroso rolls)
  • Banana peppers (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of avocado oil to coat the bottom.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: Add the 2 lbs of ground beef to the hot skillet. Season evenly with kosher salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, and dried parsley. Break up the meat using a meat masher or potato masher as it cooks. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned. Do not drain the fat; allow it to cook into the meat to enhance flavor.
  3. Mix in Cheese: Reduce the heat to medium-low and sprinkle the shredded cheese over the browned ground beef. Stir continuously until the cheese is completely melted and evenly incorporated into the meat mixture.
  4. Assemble Cheesesteaks: Spoon the cheesy beef mixture evenly into the 4 hoagie rolls, ensuring each roll is fully loaded.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately, optionally adding banana peppers on the side for extra flavor and a slight tang.

Notes

  • Use avocado oil or another neutral oil for a clean cooking flavor.
  • Do not drain the fat from the beef; it adds richness and prevents dryness.
  • Add banana peppers for a zesty twist or your favorite sandwich condiments.
  • If preferred, substitute the cheese with provolone, American, or mozzarella for different flavors.
  • To reduce sodium, adjust the amount of kosher salt to your taste.
  • Use Amoroso rolls for a traditional Philly cheesesteak experience if available.
