Description
Garlic Butter Rice is a quick and easy side dish featuring perfectly cooked long-grain white rice infused with rich butter and freshly minced garlic, delivering a comforting and flavorful complement to any meal.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- ¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter
- ½ cup long-grain white rice (not instant)
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 teaspoons chicken better than bouillon base
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
Instructions
- Melt Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt ¼ cup (½ stick) of unsalted butter until fully liquefied and slightly bubbling.
- Toast Rice: Add ½ cup long-grain white rice to the melted butter and stir continuously until the rice grains turn a light golden color, approximately 2 minutes, which enhances the flavor and texture.
- Add Liquids and Bouillon: Pour in 1 ½ cups water and add 2 teaspoons of chicken better than bouillon base. Stir well to dissolve the bouillon completely, ensuring even seasoning through the rice.
- Add Garlic: Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves evenly into the rice mixture for aromatic flavor.
- Cook Rice: Cover the skillet and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and all the water is absorbed.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, give the rice a gentle stir to fluff it up, and serve immediately as a delicious garlic butter-flavored side dish.
Notes
- Use unsalted butter to better control the saltiness of the dish.
- To make the dish vegetarian, replace the chicken bouillon with vegetable bouillon or broth.
- Do not use instant rice as it will not absorb flavors or cook properly with this method.
- The garlic can be adjusted according to preference for a milder or stronger garlic flavor.
- Make sure to cover the skillet during cooking to trap steam and cook the rice evenly.
