Description

This Fried Pickle Dip is a quick and flavorful appetizer combining the tangy crunch of pickles and toasted panko with creamy sour cream and zesty ranch seasoning. Perfect for parties or casual snacking, it offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors with minimal prep time.

Ingredients

For the Dip Base

  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 1.5-ounce packet ranch seasoning
  • 1 cup chopped pickles
  • 1/4 cup pickle juice

For the Topping

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Reserved chopped pickles (from the 1 cup)
  • Dill (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toast Panko Breadcrumbs: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add panko breadcrumbs and toast, stirring frequently, until they turn golden brown and become fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and reserve some for topping.
  2. Prepare the Dip: In a bowl, combine the sour cream, ranch seasoning, chopped pickles (reserve a portion for topping), the remaining toasted panko, and pickle juice. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended.
  3. Serve Immediately: If serving right away, transfer the dip to a serving bowl and top with the reserved chopped pickles, toasted panko, and optional dill for garnish.
  4. Storing for Later: If you plan to serve it later, store the dip base in an airtight container in the refrigerator without the toppings. When ready to serve, transfer to a serving bowl and add the reserved toppings to maintain their crunch and freshness.

Notes

  • Use fresh dill for the best flavor if adding garnish.
  • Pickle juice adds tang and subtle brininess; adjust quantity based on taste preferences.
  • For a spicier twist, consider adding a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the dip mixture.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature for optimal taste.
  • This dip pairs well with chips, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
