Description

This Easy Chai Latte recipe offers a warm and comforting blend of black tea infused with aromatic spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cardamom, sweetened naturally with maple syrup or honey and enriched with milk. Perfect for a cozy morning or afternoon treat, it’s simple to prepare on the stovetop in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Liquid Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk (dairy or dairy-free)
  • 2 black tea bags
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup or honey

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. Steep the Tea

Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and submerge the black tea bags (with labels removed) fully into the milk. Allow them to steep for 4 to 5 minutes to infuse the milk with tea flavor. Remove the tea bags using a slotted spoon.

  2. Add Spices and Sweetener

Return the saucepan to medium heat and add the ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, ground cardamom, vanilla extract, and maple syrup or honey. Whisk continuously to combine and heat the chai mixture until hot but not boiling.

  3. Serve

Pour the hot chai latte into mugs. Optionally, top with milk foam and a sprinkle of cinnamon for garnish and extra flavor. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use any milk of your choice including almond, soy, or oat milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Adjust the sweetness by increasing or decreasing the maple syrup or honey according to your taste preference.
  • For a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea bags longer but avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.
  • If you prefer a spicier chai, increase the amount of ground ginger or cinnamon slightly.
  • Milk foam can be made by frothing a small amount of milk separately or using a milk frother.
