Description

Enjoy homemade, fluffy air fryer donuts made with simple ingredients including self-rising flour and vanilla yogurt. These easy donuts are ready in just 12 minutes and are finished with a sweet powdered sugar glaze. A perfect quick treat that is light, delicious, and minimal in oil use.

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt

Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1-2 tablespoons water or milk

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and vanilla yogurt. Mix well until a thick dough forms. Adjust the dough consistency by adding more flour if it feels too thin, or more yogurt if it is too thick.
  2. Knead and Shape: Lightly flour a kitchen surface and transfer the dough onto it. Knead several times until smooth. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long sausage shape and then join the ends to form a donut shape.
  3. Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. Place 2-4 donuts in the basket, making sure there is at least half an inch of space between each donut to allow for rising and spreading.
  4. Air Fry Donuts: Cook the donuts at 200°C (400°F) for 7-8 minutes or until the outside feels firm and cooked through. Repeat this process with any remaining donuts.
  5. Cool Donuts: Remove the donuts from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack before glazing.
  6. Prepare Glaze: While the donuts cool, sift the powdered sugar into a bowl. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water or milk and mix until a thick, smooth glaze is formed.
  7. Glaze Donuts: Dip each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off, then place back on the wire rack. Top with sprinkles if desired and allow the glaze to set before serving.

Notes

  • Use full-fat vanilla yogurt for best texture and flavor.
  • The dough consistency is key; adjust flour or yogurt to get a workable dough that is neither too sticky nor dry.
  • Parchment paper in the air fryer basket prevents sticking and makes cleanup easier.
  • Allow donuts to cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
  • Storage: Keep glazed donuts in an airtight container for up to 2 days for best freshness.
