Description

Easy 15-Minute Fresh Sautéed Spinach with Garlic is a quick and healthy side dish made with fresh spinach, onion, garlic, and a splash of lemon juice. Naturally gluten-free, vegan, and packed with flavor, this garlicky sautéed spinach is the perfect addition to weeknight dinners or elegant meals alike.


Ingredients

1 lb fresh baby spinach

1 1/2 tbsp olive oil (or preferred cooking oil)

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 tbsp minced garlic

1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)

2 tsp fresh lemon juice

1/81/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add spinach, salt, and pepper. Stir frequently for 4–5 minutes until just wilted. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in lemon juice and optional red pepper flakes. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Transfer spinach to a serving dish with a slotted spoon to drain excess liquid. Serve warm.

  • Do not overcook spinach—remove from heat as soon as it wilts.

  • Fresh baby spinach works best, but regular spinach can be used if stems are removed.
