Description
Crockpot Hot Chocolate is a rich, creamy, and decadent drink made in the slow cooker with just six ingredients. Perfect for holiday parties, cozy nights, or winter gatherings, this hot cocoa recipe serves a crowd and is easily customizable with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 4 cups heavy cream, divided
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 cups whole milk
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 12 ounces semi-sweet baking bar, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Optional Toppings:
- Candy canes
- Marshmallows
- Whipped cream
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Pour 2 cups of heavy cream into the slow cooker insert. Add the cocoa powder and whisk until fully combined.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of heavy cream, whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, chopped chocolate, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 3 hours, stirring every 20 minutes until the chocolate is fully melted and integrated.
- Once ready, set the crockpot to ‘warm’ for up to 3 hours for serving. If the mixture becomes too thick, stir in additional milk to thin it out.
- Serve hot chocolate in mugs and top with marshmallows, whipped cream, crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated gently on the stove or in the microwave.
- To make it dairy-free, use plant-based milk and coconut cream, and a dairy-free chocolate bar.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice note.
