Description
This crispy pan-fried gnocchi recipe transforms tender potato dumplings into golden, crunchy bites with soft, fluffy centers. Tossed with garlic, butter, Parmesan, and a hint of chili flakes, this 20-minute dish is the perfect side, appetizer, or light main that’s full of comfort and flavor.
Ingredients
500 g (2 cups) gnocchi
30 g (1 oz) unsalted butter
30 ml (1 fl oz) olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
60 g (2 1/8 oz) Grana Padano or Parmesan, finely grated
1 teaspoon crushed chili flakes (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add gnocchi and cook until they float, 2–3 minutes. Drain well. (Optional but recommended for softer centers.)
- Preheat a large pan over medium-high heat. Melt butter and olive oil, then sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add gnocchi in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and crispy.
- Remove from heat and top with grated cheese, chili flakes, and parsley.
- Serve hot and crispy.
Notes
- Skip boiling for extra-crispy gnocchi using packaged varieties.
- Use Pecorino Romano for a sharper cheese taste.
- Drizzle with truffle oil for a gourmet finish.
- Pair with marinara, pesto, or Alfredo for a heartier meal.
