Description
This Cozy Crockpot Apple Cider is a warm, spiced fall drink made with fresh apples, citrus, and aromatic spices. Perfect for gatherings, holidays, or cozy nights at home, it’s simple to prepare and fills your home with comforting aromas as it simmers.
Ingredients
10 medium apples (mix of sweet and tart, such as Gala, Fuji, and Granny Smith)
1 orange, sliced into rounds
4 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1 tablespoon allspice berries
1/2 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
10 cups water
Instructions
- Wash and quarter the apples, leaving peels and cores intact. Slice the orange into thin rounds.
- Place apples, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice berries into the slow cooker.
- Pour in 10 cups of water, ensuring fruit and spices are submerged.
- Cover and cook on high for 3–4 hours or low for 6–8 hours, until fruit is soft and fragrant.
- Mash apples and oranges with a potato masher or large spoon to release juices.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pot. Press solids to extract maximum liquid.
- Stir in brown sugar, adjusting sweetness to taste, until dissolved.
- Ladle warm cider into mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks or orange slices if desired.
Notes
- Mixing sweet and tart apples creates a more balanced flavor.
- Leave peels and cores intact for maximum flavor—they’ll be strained later.
- Add fresh ginger or vanilla extract for extra warmth.
- Chill and serve over ice for a refreshing cold version.
- For adults, spike with bourbon, brandy, or spiced rum before serving.
