Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Mint Oreo Truffles featuring crushed Oreos mixed with cream cheese, coated in smooth vanilla or chocolate candy melts. Perfectly bite-sized treats with a refreshing mint twist, ideal for parties or anytime indulgence.

Ingredients

Truffle Base

  • 36 Chocolate Mint Oreos
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

Coating

  • 16 ounces vanilla or chocolate candy melts (optional: mint green candy melts for decoration)
  • Green sprinkles or nonpareils (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Line a rimmed baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Ensure the sheet fits inside your freezer, as you’ll be freezing the truffles shortly.
  2. Process the Oreos: Place the Chocolate Mint Oreos, including the filling, into a food processor. Pulse until you achieve fine crumbs. Then add the room temperature cream cheese and pulse again until the mixture is fully combined into a thick, uniform dough.
  3. Form the truffles: Using a spoon or your hands, scoop out the mixture to form 1-inch balls. Arrange the balls in neat rows on the prepared baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the freezer and chill the truffles for 15 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt the candy melts: Following the package instructions, gently melt the vanilla, chocolate, and if available, mint green candy melts until smooth and runny enough for dipping.
  5. Dip the truffles: Remove the truffles from the freezer. Using a spoon, dip each truffle into the melted candy melts, covering completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the truffle back onto the baking sheet. Alternate between vanilla, chocolate, and mint green coatings for variety.
  6. Decorate and set: Optional – drizzle extra melted chocolate over the coated truffles for decorative effect. If desired, sprinkle green sprinkles or nonpareils on some truffles immediately after dipping. Let the truffles sit at room temperature until the chocolate coating sets completely.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is fully softened at room temperature to blend easily with crushed Oreos.
  • Freezing the truffles before dipping helps them hold their shape and prevents the coating from becoming too heavy.
  • Use a spoon to dip rather than a fork to get full coverage and less mess.
  • This recipe can be customized with different candy melt colors for various occasions.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
