Description

Cheesy Garlic Chicken Wraps are a quick and delicious meal perfect for lunch or dinner. This recipe features tender cooked chicken mixed with garlic, light mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, and hot sauce, all wrapped in a soft tortilla with melted cheddar cheese and fresh green onions. Pan-seared until golden and crispy, these wraps are flavorful, satisfying, and ready in just 22 minutes.

Ingredients

Wrap and Filling

  • 2 large tortillas (regular or low-carb/high-protein)
  • 7 oz cooked chicken, chopped (about 200 grams; rotisserie recommended)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or grated (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons light mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon light Greek yogurt or plain yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce (like Frank’s)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 oz grated cheese (about 90 grams; cheddar blend suggested)
  • 1 green onion, chopped

For Cooking

  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Mix chicken filling: In a bowl, combine the chopped cooked chicken, minced garlic, light mayonnaise, light Greek yogurt, hot sauce, and salt. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed to create a flavorful chicken filling.
  2. Lay out wrap: Place one tortilla flat on your work surface. On the lower third of the tortilla, sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of grated cheese evenly over the surface.
  3. Add chicken mixture: Spoon approximately ⅔ cup of the prepared chicken filling onto the cheese layer. Then add another tablespoon of cheese on top of the chicken, and finish with a sprinkle of chopped green onion for fresh flavor.
  4. Fold wrap: Fold in the two sides of the tortilla towards the center, then roll the wrap tightly from the bottom edge to fully enclose the filling.
  5. Prepare pan: Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Lightly spray or brush the pan with olive oil to prevent sticking and to help crisp the wrap.
  6. Cook wraps: Place the wrapped tortillas seam-side down in the hot pan. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until the tortilla is crispy and golden brown. Use a lid to cover the pan while cooking to help warm the inside and melt the cheese.
  7. Serve: Remove the wraps from the pan, slice them in half diagonally, and serve immediately while warm and melty.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken to save time and add extra flavor to the filling.
  • Adjust garlic quantity to your taste preference for a milder or stronger garlic flavor.
  • Substitute cheese with your favorite type like mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavor profiles.
  • For a lower calorie option, use low-carb or high-protein tortillas and light mayonnaise/yogurt.
  • Serve with a side salad or fresh veggies for a complete meal.
  • Covering the pan while cooking helps melt the cheese inside without burning the outside.
