These Big Mac Sliders capture the iconic flavors of the classic McDonald’s Big Mac in a fun, bite-sized version perfect for parties or family dinners. Featuring a homemade special sauce, seasoned beef patties baked to juicy perfection, melted American cheese, crisp shredded lettuce, sweet onions, and tangy bread-and-butter pickles, all layered inside connected slider buns brushed with buttery sesame topping. Ready in about 40 minutes, these sliders offer the nostalgic taste of a Big Mac in easy slider form.

Ingredients

Special Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons French dressing
  • 2 tablespoons sweet relish
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Beef Patties

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 or leaner)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Assembly

  • 12 slider buns (still connected)
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 1½ cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced bread and butter pickles
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the beef patties and finishing the sliders.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet relish, onion powder, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and salt until well combined to create the special Big Mac sauce.
  3. Chill the Sauce: Cover the sauce bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate it to allow the flavors to meld while you prepare the rest of the recipe.
  4. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix gently with a wooden spoon or your hands just until seasonings are evenly incorporated—avoiding overmixing to keep patties tender.
  5. Form Patties: Press the seasoned ground beef evenly into a 9×13 inch baking dish, shaping it into a rectangular patty that matches the size of your slider buns.
  6. Bake the Patty: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F, ensuring the beef is fully cooked and safe to eat. The meat will shrink slightly, fitting the buns perfectly.
  7. Add Cheese: Remove the baking dish from the oven and top the beef patty with slices of American cheese evenly spread over the surface.
  8. Melt the Cheese: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and gooey.
  9. Prepare for Assembly: Remove the dish from the oven and set the cheese-topped patty aside in a warm covered place. Quickly rinse the baking dish as it will be reused for assembling the sliders.
  10. Assemble Sliders: Place the bottom halves of the connected slider buns in the clean 9×13 baking dish.
  11. Spread Sauce & Lettuce: Spread half of the chilled special sauce evenly over the bottom buns, then layer with shredded lettuce for crunch.
  12. Add Beef Patty: Place the baked and cheese-melted ground beef patty on top of the lettuce.
  13. Top with Onion and Pickles: Layer sliced sweet onions and bread and butter pickles evenly over the beef patty, then drizzle with the remaining special sauce for extra flavor.
  14. Complete the Slider: Add the top halves of the slider buns to cover the fillings.
  15. Brush with Butter and Sesame: Using a basting brush, brush the tops of the buns with melted salted butter, then sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over the buttered surface for a final touch.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for best juicy and flavorful patties; leaner beef can be used but may be drier.
  • Do not overmix the ground beef to avoid tough burgers.
  • The connected slider buns help keep the sliders intact and are perfect for party platters.
  • The special sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Ensure the beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F for safe consumption.
  • For extra crispness, you can lightly toast the slider buns before assembly.
