Description

These baked chocolate donuts are rich, soft, and topped with a smooth chocolate glaze. Made with everyday ingredients, they’re easy to whip up in under 40 minutes and perfect for a quick indulgent treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (21g) cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup (66g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (118ml) milk (skim used)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (59ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • Chocolate sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray a donut pan with non-stick spray and use a paper towel to evenly coat the wells.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula until just combined.
  5. Transfer batter to a piping bag or ziplock bag with the corner cut, and pipe into donut wells. Smooth tops if needed.
  6. Bake for 10–13 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then release and cool completely.
  7. For the glaze, microwave chocolate chips and oil at 50% power for 1 minute, stir, then heat in 30-second intervals until melted. Stir until smooth and slightly cooled.
  8. Dip cooled donuts into the glaze, allow excess to drip off, add sprinkles if desired, and let the glaze set or enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use a piping bag or ziplock bag for easier batter transfer.
  • Ensure donuts are completely cool before glazing to prevent melting.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
  • You can substitute milk chocolate chips for a sweeter glaze.
