Description

This Awesome Sauce is a creamy, tangy, and flavorful vegan condiment perfect for adding a zesty kick to sandwiches, wraps, or as a dip. Made with vegan mayo, Buffalo sauce, sautéed onions, mustard, and fresh herbs, it’s a deliciously simple sauce that blends a bit of spice with herbaceous freshness.

Ingredients

Sauce Base

  • 1/2 cup vegan mayo
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo Sauce
  • 2 teaspoon mustard

Onion Preparation

  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter

Herbs and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup mixed herbs (dill, parsley, and chives)
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onions: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegan butter in a pan or small casserole over medium heat. Add 1 cup of chopped onions and fry them for around 2 minutes until softened and fragrant. Then remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Blend Sauce Ingredients: In the bowl of a food processor or blender, combine the 1/2 cup vegan mayo, 1/2 cup Buffalo sauce, 2 teaspoons mustard, and the sautéed onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Blend everything together until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Fresh Herbs: Finally, fold in 1/4 cup of finely chopped mixed herbs (dill, parsley, and chives) to the blended sauce, mixing gently to incorporate the fresh flavors without losing the creamy texture.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, increase the amount of Buffalo sauce or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor; dried herbs will alter the taste and texture.
  • Great as a dip for veggies, a spread for sandwiches, or a topping for grilled tofu or veggie burgers.
  • Make sure to use vegan butter and mayo to keep the sauce completely plant-based.
