Ingredients
- 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
- 4 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- Optional toppings: sea salt flakes, vanilla bean ice cream, salted caramel
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 12×8-inch oval baking dish, combine diced Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples.
- In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle over the apples and toss to coat evenly.
- In a medium bowl, prepare the streusel topping: combine flour, oats, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, and butter. Use a fork or pastry cutter to mix until crumbly.
- Spread the streusel topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Serve warm with vanilla bean ice cream, a drizzle of salted caramel, and a sprinkle of sea salt flakes if desired.

- Using two types of apples gives a balance of tartness and sweetness.
