Description
Delightful Air Fryer French Toast Bites made with brioche, perfectly spiced with cinnamon and vanilla, coated in a cinnamon-sugar mix, and cooked to golden perfection in just 20 minutes. A quick and easy breakfast or snack option that’s crispy on the outside and soft inside.
Ingredients
Bread
- 4 slices brioche
Egg Mixture
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- Pinch of salt
- ½ tsp vanilla paste
- ¾ tsp ground cinnamon (divided: ¼ tsp for egg mixture, ½ tsp for coating)
Coating
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Prepare Brioche Squares: Cut each brioche slice into 9 small squares to create bite-sized pieces perfect for air frying.
- Mix Egg Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs until lightly beaten. Add the milk, vanilla paste, ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and generously spray the basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking and ensure crispiness.
- Dip Bread Squares: Briefly dip each brioche square into the egg mixture, about 5 seconds per side, allowing it to soak lightly but not become soggy. Only dip as many squares as comfortably fit in the air fryer basket without crowding.
- Air Fry: Arrange the dipped pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Air fry for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the French toast bites turn golden brown and crisp on the outside.
- Prepare Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: While the bites cook, combine the remaining ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon with the granulated sugar in a small bowl, stirring well.
- Coat the French Toast Bites: As soon as the bites come out of the air fryer, immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to ensure it sticks and adds delightful sweetness and spice.
- Repeat: Continue dipping, cooking, and coating with the remaining brioche squares until all have been prepared.
- Serve: Serve the Air Fryer French Toast Bites warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar, drizzled with maple syrup, or alongside fresh fruit for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Notes
- Use brioche bread for the best texture and flavor, but you can substitute with challah or thick white bread if needed.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; air circulation is essential for crispiness.
- Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your air fryer model.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond or oat milk.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture for extra warmth and flavor.
- Serve immediately for the crispiest texture, as the bites soften if they sit too long.
