Description
These crispy air fryer chicken nuggets are made with simple ingredients and cook up golden and flavorful. Perfect for kids, easy to freeze, and great for meal prep or quick dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ¼ cup whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Cut chicken into 1.5 to 2 inch ‘nugget-shaped’ pieces.
- Set up three bowls: one with beaten eggs, one with flour, and one with panko, breadcrumbs, parmesan, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder mixed together.
- Coat each chicken piece first in flour, then egg, then the breadcrumb mixture. Place on a clean plate.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C/390°F.
- Working in batches, place coated chicken nuggets in the air fryer basket and cook for 4 minutes.
- Flip the nuggets and cook for another 3 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the chicken is no longer pink.
- Repeat with remaining nuggets until all are cooked.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce such as ranch or barbecue.
Notes
- Can be frozen after cooking and reheated in the air fryer.
- Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour for a gluten-free version.
- Adjust seasonings to taste or add a pinch of cayenne for spice.
