Description
These Air Fryer Apple Chips are a healthy, crispy snack made from thinly sliced apples, lightly spiced with cinnamon and air fried for a satisfying crunch. They’re a perfect alternative to store-bought chips and can be customized with various spices for added flavor.
Ingredients
1–2 apples (you can only air fry one at a time)
Coconut oil spray
Cinnamon (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
- Wash the apples and slice them into very thin rounds. Remove the core if preferred, or leave it in for extra texture.
- Lightly spray the apple slices with coconut oil on both sides, then sprinkle with cinnamon to coat evenly.
- Arrange the apple slices in a single, even layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring minimal overlap. Air fry for 12 minutes, then flip and air fry for another 10 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and place them on a plate. Let them cool for 1-2 minutes. The chips will crisp up further as they cool.
- Enjoy the apple chips immediately, or prepare another batch.
Notes
- Spicy Apple Chips: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy kick.
- Sweet Apple Chips: For a sweeter taste, sprinkle a little sugar or maple syrup before air frying.
- Apple and Nutmeg: Add ground nutmeg alongside cinnamon for a warm, aromatic flavor.
- Other apples like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp are ideal for this recipe.
- If you don’t have a coconut oil spray, you can use other spray oils like avocado oil or olive oil.
